Description
A quality example, the grips of polished rhino with steel pommel, the guard finely chiseled, VICTORY FROM GOD AND CONQUEST NIGH! with inlaid borders, and inscribed on the underside, MARNAHUR (?) and 1208 a.h. (1793/94 c.e.) The long, broad blade wrought of fine, actively-grained Persian black wootz with large, elegant chiseled Qur’anic panels at the forte. In its embossed leather-covered wooden scabbard with en suite steel suspension bands with gold borders and faceted chape. Dated 1793/94. Minor repair to grips at pommel. Overall length 93cm. Condition II
