Description
The hilt of characteristic form, engraved and nielloed silver, the robust heirloom blade with triple fullers. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with silver mounts engraved and nielloed en suite with the hilt, the locket with engraved and nielloed Imperial Russian double-headed eagle on the reverse. Latte 19th-early 20th century. Minor wear, leather rubbed. Quite similar examples belonging to the Caucasian Collection of the State Historical Museum, Moscow, appears in E.G. Astvatsaturian, Weapons of the Caucasian Peoples, St. Petersburg, Atlant Publishers, 2004, p. 258 and passim. Overall length 92cm. Condition II
