Description
The work of a master, the polished horn grips set in mounts of finely engraved and nielloed silver with parcel gilding. The straight, handwrought, double-edged blade with paired central fullers and maker’s marks to the obverse fort. The leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, elaborately engraved, nielloed, and gilded mounts struck with the Imperial Russian 84 silver mark. Latter 19th century. Blade with very minor areas of pitting, leather refreshed. Overall length 60cm. Condition II
