AUCTIONS IMPERIAL JUNE 2022 ARMS & ARMOR
Lot 230:
Description
A very rare example, with shirmani grips and steel pommel, the guard well-wrought of black wootz. The long, broad blade wrought of fine, actively-grained Persian black wootz and inscribed in a worn cartouche at the right forte, MUHAMMAD ISFAHANI and WORK OF ZAMAN—in our experience, a unique example of two smiths signing a single blade. In its embossed leather-covered carved wooden scabbard with en suite wootz suspension bands. Minor rubbing to blade, stable cracks to grips. Overall length 97cm. Condition II
