Of characteristic circular form, constructed of oxhide and bound with handwrought iron mounts, consisting of inner and outer rings, cross-straps, A unique sun-form center plate and domed boss. The reverse retains its original padding, grips and braided guige. Late 18th-early 19th century. Minor wear, boss dented, wear to padding. See Y. Miller, Caucasian Arms from the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Copenhagen: Naestved, 2000, p. 46, plate 4 for quite similar. Diameter 27.5cm. Condition III
