Description
The guard characteristically shallow, pierced and chiseled overall with intertwining vinework and roped border. The ovate pommel with baluster button and turned base, chiseled en suite with the quillon block, from which branch, atypically, a set of four quillons, each with conical terminal. The wooden grip carved in a chevron pattern, with original twisted wire wrap and turkshead knots. The extremely long, straight, double-edged blade retaining its sharp edges, of flattened diamond section and wrought with short fullers at the forte, . c. 1650. Published in H.
