Description
With open hilt, the corded wooden grip with leather wrap, riveted to the tang with silver rondels and ogival iron pommel cap. The characteristic guard with long, faceted quillons and elongated langets with integral thumbring for the left hand. The long, broad blade wrought with double narrow fullers along the spine with broad yelman and long tip. Struck at the fort with maker’s marks in the form of a small sun. 16th-early 17th century. Minor restoration to leather, minor pitting, blade slightly bowed near the tip. Overall length 95.2cm
