Description
The cupguard with deeply rolled, line-engraved border, the robust knucklebow and guard with beaded terminals and profiling, the urn-shaped pommel en suite. Turned wooden grip well patinated. The long, straight, and exceptionally broad double-edged blade with deep fuller to either side marked MIN SINAL HES/ EL SANTISSIMO CRUCIFICIO (MY SIGN IS THE MOST HOLY CROSS) with fine line borders terminating in the Portuguese Cross. Mid-17th century. Well worn overall. Overall length 98.5cm. Condition III
