Description
Maranao People, the hilt with elephant pommel of characteristic form, the grip of silver bands alternating with beaded rings. The broad, handforged blade showing evidence of layering. In its later hardwood scabbard with carved throat bound with four silver bands and set with a silver coin dated 1937. Late 19th-early 20th century. Overall length 57.2cm. Condition II
