Description
The cup well engraved with series of imbricated scales, the rim rolled and roped en suite with the guard and knucklebow, each of which terminate in large, profiled disks. The guarda polvo and guard brackets well-profiled. The grip retains its original wire wrap with turkshead knots intact, the large pommel fluted. The long, double-edged blade of hexagonal section at the forte with narrow central fullers, struck with a cross and I (for Iesus, Latin for Jesus). Mid-17th century. Minor wear overall, areas of corrosion to blade. Overall length 110cm. Condition II
