Description
The complex hilt finely forged of round section bars with roped decoration and engraved pommel, the wooden grip with cord wrap retains its turkshead knots. The exceptionally long, double-edged blade wrought with a rectangular forte and short fuller to either side, and of flattened diamond section throughout, tapering continuously to the tip, and fitted slightly later in its working life. First quarter of the 17th century. Worn overall, very slight looseness to guard. Overall length 138cm. Condition III
