Description
The polished rhino grips with rolled pommel and engraved silver tangband, with well-engraved silver guard struck with Ottoman hallmarks. The fine, curved, single-edged Persian heirloom blade wrought of superb, actively-patterned black wootz and inscribed in a chiseled and gold-bordered polygonal cartouche, WORK OF ASSAD ALLAH. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with large, well-engraved silver mounts bearing Ottoman hallmarks. Late18th-early 19th century. Minor wear to scabbard, adhesive under guard. Overall length 94.5cm. Condition III
