Description
Early-mid Safavid era, an original, uncut hauberk reaching to the ankles, composed of rings of differing diameter and thickness, with the largest and heaviest wrought at crucial points, maximizing the protection-to-weight ratio. Each ring both riveted and welded as is characteristic of this type. With collar and overlapping closure, long sleeves terminating in points, the lengthy skirt with vents reaching to the groin, designed for a horseman. C. 1600-1700. Considerable surface rusting, losses to rings. Overall length 133.3cm/ 52.5”. Condition III
