Description
The blade of characteristic form, robust and shallowly curved with pronounced central ridge. The atypical iron guard with upper langet and cusped ecusson, the ovoid quillons with ribbed decoration. The distinctive pommel expanding continuously to the expanded lobate terminal. Retains its upper scabbard mount. 9th-10th century. Excavated. As found. Ex-Egil Haggmann Collection, N.Y. 1974.
