Description
Mounted in finely etched steel, the fine, ergonomic dark horn grip capped with an etched steel finial, the guard, wrought with a gentle curve designed to fit the hip so as not to catch when mounting a horse, finely etched throughout in flowering vine motifs and bearing the owners initials, HF. In its steel scabbard etched en suite with the hilt in elaborate panels of flowering vinework and inscribed at the locket, LE PAGE- MOUTIER ARCQER A PARIS. The fine straight, single-edged blade with short, fullered false edge terminating in a spear tip, the pronounced spine finely etched throughout in flowering vinework en suite with the mounts above a broad fuller with chamfered cutting edge. The forte finely etched with a wild boars head amongst foliage at one side and a hunting hound at the other, with the spine marked, LE PAGE- MOUTIER ARCQUEER BREVETE A PARIS amongst foliage. Latter 19th century. Minor areas of pitting to mounts, scabbard lacking one plate at throat and frog. Overall length 68cm /26 ??.Condition III
