Mughal work, the iron grip terminating in a fully-modelled parrot head with inlaid ruby eyes, retaining much original heavy silver overlay. The fine blade of flattened hexagonal section with central ridge and pronounced armor-piercing tip, wrought of fine black wootz. In its original velvet-covered wooden sheath, the chape a later replacement. Mid-17th century. Overall length 36cm / 14 3/16?. Condition III
