Well-wrought of steel, with profiled, removable brass fingerstalls for compact storage, likely for a traveling scribe. The blades of convex section, heavily inlaid in gold overall. Probably Istanbul Court Workshop; a similar pair is displayed in the British Museum. First half of the 19th century. General patina overall. Overall length 23.5cm/ 9 1/4?. Condition III
