Comprising three steel implements, a pen knife of characteristic form, the hilt heavily inlaid with silver in geometrical motifs, a stylus, used for inscribing text on treated palm leaves, the grip finely stepped and inlaid in silver en suite with the knife handle, and a steel punch for perforating palm leaf pages, in order to string them together. All contained in a carved wooden sheath covered in tooled leather. Typically carried in a scribes sash. 18th-19th century. Minor wear, leather rubbed through in one spot. Overall length 30cm / 12?. Condition III
