The skull formed of eight cusped and riveted steel plates, mounted with a stepped and flanged steel finial. Retains its rare browband and neckguard of numerous rectangular lamellar plates with rounded terminals, with much original deerskin lacing. See a quite similar helmet in the Eastern Arms collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (pictured last, the photo is for reference only and is not included in this lot.)16th – 17th century. Worn, one plate and areas of lacing replaced. Overall height 39cm/ 15.35?. Condition III
