Edo era, with gilded kashira and horn fuchi, the tsuba and seppa with substantial remains of gilding. The saya in dark red textured lacquer with horn koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri. Kogatana in place with copper kozuka, habaki gilded. Blade with straight temperline and clear turnback with active grain, the tang signed ARIMITSU (?) 18th-19th century. Smiths named Arimitsu are recorded from approximately 1350-1570. Light wear, lacquer with minor chip. Overall length 33.4cm / 13.14? nagasa 18.9cm / 7.44? Condition III
