Late Edo Period, the engraved silver mounts in handachi style, with shakudo menuki in the form of the Three Buddhist Arrows. In its ribbed, black lacquered saya with leather hilt cover intact. The blade with two hi fullers, one broad and one narrow, with a slightly billowing temperline and active grain. The tang signed JIRO TARO NAOKATSU on one side, with an inscription noting that the sword was made as a special order for the head of a school of advanced studies, likely a samurai, on the other. C. 1830-50. Very slight wear, silvered tsuba slightly rubbed, minor chip to saya tip. Overall length 88cm / 34.64? nagasa 65cm / 25.59? Condition I
