With quality Edo Period iron mounts and tsuba with rippling edge evocative of waves, copper two-piece habaki, and deep brown lacquered saya with sand texturing and gold inlaid iron tip. The blade of exceptional age and condition, the tang pierced with a single hole and signature translated as BISHU OSAFUNE YASUHISA and dated 1405. With active grain and wavy, active temperline in good polish. Muromachi Period. Wear to grip wrap. Overall length 95.8cm / 37.71?, nagasa cutting edge 66.4cm / 26.14?.
