Edo era, comprising a heavy collapsible steel kabuto helmet with four-plate shikoro in black lacquer with gilt crescent moon maidate and steel hanpo with neck lames. The rare, vermilion-lacquered do of profiled steel plates set with two long panels of black mail to the reverse and en suite kusazuri with deerskin backing. The sode and haidate composed of mail reinforced with profiled plates, the suneate with black-lacquered steel plates connected by mail. Mounted on its wooden storage case with forged iron hardware. C. 1700. General wear overall. Losses and cracks to lacquer, deerhide reinforced. Height 146.5cm / 57 ??. Condition III STAND AND CASE INCLUDED.
